Instructions for authors

General instructions:

  • Submitted papers must not be published or submitted for print to other periodic scientific journals
  • Submitted manuscripts are to be in Microsoft Word format – font “Times New Roman” size 12, spacing 1.5
  • Original papers must not exceed 15 pages including the abstract and bibliography and must not contain more than 9 figures
  • Review articles must not exceed 20 pages and 30 references
  • Case reports must not exceed 8 pages, contain more than 8 figures and present more than 10 references
  • A cover letter to the editor-in-chief declaring acceptance by and contribution of authors is required
  • Authors must disclose conflicts of interest, grants received, use AI –technologies in paper’s preparation. Acknowledgements if any and disclosures should be placed at the end of the manuscript, before the “References” section.

Abstract instructions:

  • Must be submitted in both Bulgarian and English
  • Up to 4 key words may be used (selected according to National Library of Medicine’s Medical Subject Headings (MeSH)
  • Original papers: up to 250 words including background, aim, materials and methods, results, conclusions
  • Review articles: up to 150 words containing background, aimconclusions
  • Case reports:background, aim, case presentation, conclusions

References:

  • Must be quoted using the Vancouver standard
  • Arranged alphabetically
  • Initials of the first author follow the name
  • Entire publication title must be included followed by an abbreviated title of the journal, year of publication, volume and page numbers
  • Internet citations must be presented by DOI number

Instructions for figures and tables:

  • Provided as separate files as .tiff or .jpg with at least 600 dpi resolution
  • Patient anonymity is mandatory
  • Abbreviations should be avoided
